I tried reading the comic adaptation of Meathouse Man and it was okay. I was expecting much worse given the concept but then it just fizzled out. But since comics have come up I'm afraid to say that Pandora's Box has been opened and we can include all illustrated art. Including Manga. Including some of the darkest shit you will ever find.

By the great Suehiro Maruo. Maybe the only Ero Guro artist whose work you can say with a straight face isn't fetish porn in any way. He does have a thing for eyeball licking however. Ultra Gash Inferno to my recollection contains a story about a mother and son awaiting the husband to come back from the tail end of WW 2. They're starting to starve and think he's dead but a midget appears and seduces the wife, eventually murders the son and feeds the son to her.

His most famous is probably Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show which got an animated adaptation called Midori.

AND a live action adaptation.

Arashi is fairly tame compared to his other work. Maruo hasn't done much in a very long time.

Then there's Jun Hayami and his seminal works Beauty Labyrinth of Razors

Imagine if a budding serial killer decided to pursue manga instead and was damn good at it.

His other great work is Hentai Shounen which seems eerily, EERILY autobiographical. Showing the avatar of the artist progressing to a desperately horny young man who humps severed legs.

Maybe next time I'll talk about Uziga Waita.

Next up is Hiroaki Samura's Love of the Brute art book. Samura is most famous as the author of Blade of the Immortal but over the course of a decade he created these beautiful illustrations of suffering.

These are some of the tamer ones that I posted. My theory is that Ero Guro is an innate reaction to Japanese war time atrocities.

Then you have Uziga Waita whose work isn't as great as the other Guro artists I've mentioned. The style isn't as refined, veers more into fetish porn, but on occasion and perhaps accidentally he creates something great. His most famous is Mai Chan's Daily Life which is responsible for that baby fucker meme ("It's real good!").

Which eventually got a low budget live action adaptation that is shockingly tame in comparison to the manga.

We never really brought up Dennis Cooper, did we? Frisk is his seminal novel on sexual depravity. I've yet to get to it, sadly.

All I Need is Love AKA Kinski Uncut. The autobiography of Klaus Kinski. A highly fictitious tome but a peak inside the madman's mind. Especially his sexual manias including fingering his sister, fucking his mother as the bombs fell during WW 2 and his many co-stars. Not so much disturbing until you find out how he raped his first daughter Pola multiple times, how he attempted to rape his 2nd daughter Nastajja, and this scene from Cobra Verde takes on an entirely different context and you fully understand why Herzog wished he had cut it and wanted to murder Klaus.

That's not a rhetorical exaggeration either. He literally wanted to murder him on more than one occasion, once pulling a gun on him, and once getting interrupted while trying to burn his house down. He isn't the only person who ever wanted to murder Klaus Kinski, either. More or less everyone who dealt with this guy wanted to kill him at one point or another.

He wanted to firebomb his home with Molotov's but realized he needed him for more scenes.

Klaus was a brilliant actor when playing a mad man but he was a real sonofabitch.

Here's a PDF of Kinski Uncut because the paperback goes for about $50 last I checked. Keep in mind that it's highly fictitious but interesting to say the least.

(This is a mild rant of his)

I assume @AnOminous was referring to this gem:

He bragged on multiple sets about raping his daughters and trying to fuck every female on set while saying that he was Nosferatu.

If this is mild then I'd really like to see him off the chain,
If you watch Herzog's documentary on their relationship he details how Klaus became so enraged he nearly killed several extras.

Once during filming he slammed a sword on a guy's head and would have killed him had the extra not worn a helmet.

Another time the extras were making too much noise in a hut and Klaus fired several shots into the hut and managed to shoot off a guy's finger tip.

Another anecdote Herzog recalls in his diary Conquest of the Useless (written during the filming of Fitzcaralldo) he detailed how Klaus beat his 3rd wife at the hotel and the walls were covered in her blood.

I love crazy books, here are the books that managed on my top 5 : The painted bird, Last exit to brooklyn, Naked lunch, Perfume and The wasp factory...

1. The Painted Bird, best “fvcked up” book I have read so far, read it in one sitting cause the writing is beautiful. you will be inside a kid’s mind who suffered from the holocaust.

2. Last Exit to Brooklyn is a one dirty book! This book is incredible for me, because I found myself rooting for the main characters even if they are so flawed and beyond saving...

3. Naked lunch is really funny and inappropriate. but kinda trippy, it’s from a junky’s POV so it makes sense that some parts dont make sense (lol). lots of drugs, shit, ped0 scenes, murders...

4, Perfume’s writing is very straight forward and easy, the plot is very odd and refreshing.

5. The wasp factory has a lot of “oh shit” moments, never boring and an easy read too.

Don't buy the digital, do NOT BUY THE DIGITAL. Buy the physical copy, preferably one that is used or read, it will make the tone/feel of the book more real.

It is a book within a book within a book. The meta is deep, the hallways are ever growing, and the riddles abound. There are things that are in this book that having a digital copy does not work and wrecks the experience. Go in knowing NOTHING about this book and read it, THEN when you are done go look up the lore and back ground info.

It is one of those books that I read, put on the shelf, will never read again, but tell everyone to buy a copy or read mine. The more it's read and returned the better the book stays true to it's 'root'.

Also, DO NOT BUY A DIGITAL COPY.

PS: I just dropped $200 on books that were recommended in this thread.

The two I chose not to purchase after reading more of the synopsis were "Hogg" and "Cows". I have a line in the sand of material that I choose not to read (bestiality and pedophilia) about as I feel disgusted by these depictions and not in a "Thought Provoking" uncomfortable way.
