You can claim he failed all you like, but you're objectively wrong. Look at his twitter feed and see how many of the comments are mocking him for tentacle porn versus how many of them are calling him out on raping children. There will always be dozens of the former but few if any of the latter.
Not to mention, while the infamous child porn incident was very suspicious - even by his own account, Kurt was never convicted as a pedophile sex criminal by a court of law. For now...

Why would some obscure crank getting a settlement be big news? You can see it here. It's the last entry.

In fairness, the actual filing of the lawsuit did go all over the blogosphere, as did some of the earlier motions. Unfortunately for him, most of the blogs that covered it are either dead or dying, so the followup on the story may not get quite the coverage the filing did.

It's a settlement.

And sure enough, it was literally the least amount it could be and still technically be a "six figure" settlement. Kurt's pettiness knows no bounds.

He was never even charged with it. Friends in high places are nice to have. Not only that, he went completely scot-free for paying a source for a story he was writing, which he undeniably and by his own admission did, even though that is supposedly a cardinal sin in journalistic "ethics," if there really is such a thing.

That's because he ratted out all of his buddies he established the CP ring with in return for immunity. The instant the feds dropped a hand on his shoulder he sang like a bird, cried to his connections, and got cut a ridiculously sweet deal where anyone else probably would have had to plea bargain. Then he acted like that was the plan all along, hoping people wouldn't notice the evidence that he was not just conducting some sort of low-level sting but essentially running the whole operation.

"Legitimate" news outlets' refusal to pay sources has little to do with ethics and a lot to do with the bottom line. Once you start paying a few sources, all of them who aren't legally required to give you information will expect to be paid.

By presenting a united front on this issue, newspapers and other news organizations have saved billions of dollars. No one ever talks about the enormous profits made by news outlets for distributing a product that their stainless ethics require people to provide them for free.

Newspapers used to fire reporters on the spot for paying sources, but ethics was basically a noble-sounding cover story.

Really though, most sources do actually get paid if they're giving the MSM what they want, they just don't get paid directly. They'll still get a million-dollar book deal, and it will be plugged on every MSM outlet.

Exactly. Casey (the one who operated the gay camwhore site) even said that his lawyer Stephen M. Ryan was the reason charges were never raised in the first place, even though the FBI really wanted to prosecute him.

Though I wonder if Kurt can still rely on his "friends" given that he's an absolute nobody and thus of no use to anyone now.

Nevertheless, almost anyone but Kurt at the time would have immediately been fired for that shit even without it being a child pornographer he paid to operate a child pornography website.

He burned through all his friends with his increasingly demented behavior.

Very few sources, even on huge stories, get million-dollar book deals. And I should have been clearer: the big savings from journalists refusing to pay sources comes from the thousands of people who would demand money every day for talking to reporters about routine stories or for providing tips about something slightly bigger. Nobody gets a seven-figure book deal for information on the county commissioners steering the caliche contract to the county judge's cousin.

In Eichenwald's case, he did get a bargain. That kid might have actually been able to swing a book deal with a sizeable advance.

Nevertheless, almost anyone but Kurt at the time would have immediately been fired for that shit even without it being a child pornographer he paid to operate a child pornography website.

This is true. Even today.

I can agree that people from the internet far right aren't the smartest or otherwise winners of the genetic lottery, but I'm going to become an unironic Twitch thot if people giffing on Kurt is some master keikaku of the Russian government.
So he browsed /b/ for 5 minutes and grabbed whatever edgy shit he could find, and thinks this is the bombshell of the century?

What a faggot.

It's hilarious how even this impotent bald seizure-riddled has-been knows he's too weak to be remotely threatening so he threatens people with imaginary "people more powerful than me" lmao what a loser.

Kurt was definitely the the fat, spastic kid in fourth grade who constantly threatened to sue the other children for being mean to him.

And . . . ninja'd a bit by @break these cuffs.

I lost track of this thread, but whatever happened to the lawsuit with the college student? Did he get his own room?

Maybe the courts know something we don't, but this has in my opinion always been the biggest plot hole in this story. I don't know much about Burger courts and Burger legal procedure (maybe @AnOminous can help here), but wouldn't it be in the prosecution's interest to have Kurt completely examined by a court appointed/approved doctor and go through the hospital records? Even if both the hospital and the court's doc confirm both Kurt's account of the giffing event and severity of his alleged epilepsy to be bullshit (which I'm convinced it is), the prosecution could still easily nail Ravioli for attempted (aggravated) assault.

Kurt is the kind of person you don't know if as a child he got the belt too much or not enough.

Okay, I know I'm in the minority when I said that guy was pretty obviously a dick for intentionally sending someone an animated gif, in order to cause a seizure. NOT because I like the guy, but because it just seems like common sense, you know, like making ex-lax brownies, or giving someone something they're allergic to. (It happened once when some assholes hacked the Epilepsy Foundation website. So it can happen.) I don't think you should be put away in jail forever, but it seems like it would fall under "intent to cause harm", etc.
And there are plenty of lolcows out there I hate, but I have no desire to go and try and cause them harm. Because I'm not a lolcow myself.

THAT BEING SAID, I would think that Eichenwald would have gifs turned off on his computer, altogether, if it's that bad. And if he's in postictal for weeks, he's got to be full of shit. At most it would be about a day or two, depending on the severity of said seizure, and it's more like a hangover. (And few days after that I might seem a little "jumpy" but that's about it)

And let's say he does have it as bad as he claims: why the fuck then hasn't he looked into surgery? From what I gather, they've made some huge advances -- it's not like it used to be, leaving you half-paralysed.

He was stupid to do it, and even dumber for admitting not only that he did it, but that he did it knowing the guy claimed to be epileptic. I don't believe the cunt actually had a seizure, but Rivello made it really easy to go after him. That would make him guilty of at least attempting to do it, which is almost always also a crime.

Aside from people joking that Eichenwald deserved a seizure for his posts, I'm not aware of any substantial body of opinion against what you said here.

Why is it important to you to think you're bucking some sort of trend? And if you want that so much, why not come up with something more than a basic take on the topic?

Could 2020 get any fucking worse?!?
So Kurt has taken the black pill hard it seems and changed his name on Twitter. I really wish Kurt was right about secession. What’s the consensus of us on this thread on whether Kurt will survive his seizure he will inevitably suffer if the orange man wins in November?
