Anna Ayers, commissioner of the Ohio University Student Senate Appropriations Commission, was arrested by the OU Police Department on Monday and charged with three counts of making false alarms.

Ayers — an OU senior studying journalism, a member of The Post Publishing Board and a previous Post columnist — reported that she received three threatening messages, two in the Student Senate office and one at her residence. An OUPD investigation found that Ayers placed the messages herself prior to reporting them.

According to a previous Post report, Student Senate held a meeting to address the threats made to Ayers last Wednesday. At that point, Senate leadership believed the reports came from another member of the body.

“We are still processing and encouraging our members to take time to heal and utilize campus support resources right now,” Student Senate President Maddie Sloat said in a statement. “We’re complying with the investigation and OUPD. We hope Anna receives the help that she needs.”

According to OUPD’s report, making false alarms is a first-degree misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Ayers is scheduled to appear in Athens County Municipal Court on Thursday morning.

She’s the girl that cried wolf.

A college student was busted for reporting anti-LGBT threats that police say she made against herself.

Ohio University senior Anna Ayers was charged with three counts of “making false alarms,” Campus Reform reported.

Ayers, who is a member of the school’s student senate, told Ohio University Police that she had received multiple menacing messages including a death threat because she was “part of the LGBT community,” according to National Review.

But during the course of their investigation, officers uncovered that Ayers had “placed the messages herself” prior to reporting the threats, the Post of Athens, Ohio, reported.

Ayers told fellow student senators that she received the threats at both her campus office and her residence, according to the student-run New Political.

“I have no interest in hearing from any of you that you are sorry… or that you can’t believe it happened,” she said at the senate meeting, according to the New Political. “Instead, I want each of you to do everything you can make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Student Senate President Maddie Sloat told the New Political that the senate hopes Ayers “receives the help that she needs.”

The charges are considered a first-degree misdemeanor in Ohio, according to the Post. Ayers faces a maximum penalty of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each count if convicted.

"There is no such thing as a false hate crime. All hate crimes are real even if they technically didn't happen"

:stress: Please have that be a troll. But I have dealt with people with such logic, just never this bad. I just need a gun and one bullet now for myself.
Why is it that when they thought someone else was posting these threats, they were horrible people and had to be stopped. But when it turned out she was doing it herself, they just hope she gets the help she needs.

In this country, being suspected of bigotry is worse than being caught lying about harassment.

Of course, the stupid idiot should have just said the other student council members raped her. Then they'd all be summarily executed in the title 9 kangaroo court, and she'd be a national hero forever. Fucking moron....
