PhantomL0rd wins lawsuit against twitch -

A while back twitch streamer and gambling enthusiast James PhantomL0rd Varga was permanently banned from the platform for allegations of fraud and gambling.
They banned him without any solid proof or evidence, PhantomL0rd eventually sued and after a two year battle he has won what amounts to 20k, not quite the 35 million he was seeking but this sets a precedent against twitch and their shitty preference practices and ToS tweaking favoring anyone that can make em a quick buck, looking at you kiddie pool thots calling 2 inches of water a hot tub.

The jury sided with him on all counts.

Will they unban him? Probably not. Unless that was part of the winnings.

(archive isn't removing the shit pop up that asks for a donation for some reason but you can skip it)

I’ll edit the OP and post any/all legal filing documents I can find if this technically counts as something to move into LolcowLLP

His initial win was over twitch trying to cap the lawsuit at 50k which a judge rejected and allowed the lawsuit to proceed without that cap.

winning only 20k sounds like shit when you consider that circumstance but a win is a win. I wonder what his retainer was.

Now I really wanna see a Dr. Disrespect lawsuit as his damages were literally millions in an exclusive contract.

Glad to see Twitch take an L but PhantomL0rd is still a huge scummy faggot though.

I remember following the events that lead to his ban pretty closely at the time. He was buying subs, viewbotting and had a hand in rigging games on a "provably fair" gambling site that he constantly promoted on his stream. Pretty sure evidence points to him owning or having some stake in the site. He probably only got 20k for his efforts because Twitch breached the partner contract.

That reddit post he made is more of him trying to damage control and claim he dindu nuffin.

Phantom lord is gay. Twitch is gay. Both can fuck off.

It will be nice if for once a tech company would be told to pay something that is less than it's 0.01% daily earnings.

Lol I remember this guy. Didn't he run a crooked online casino where he basically stole kid's CSGO skins from them?
Precisely what he did and why he got banned. I'm pretty certain Twitch had to pay him 20k because they gave him the boot immediately without warning which went against their partner contract.

In most cases I would agree, but this guy lives in a mansion and drives luxury cars with money he got from scamming people. A significant payout would be wasted on this grease ball.

I see tech monopolies getting scot free over virtually everything being the far greater evil since only rich douchbags have the money and drive to go against those types of companies. The punishment is so light it's basically a rubber stamp on random bans.

20k is fucking nothing lol. will it even cover the legal fees or will twitch pay for it all?
Considering the lawsuit was originally 35 million, that lawyer probably took it on contingency hoping to get a huge cut of that 35 mil
what the actual cut was now? no one knows, but if that wasn’t the case then I really want to know what the retainer was.

Twitch loses and helps to build precedent for future cases meanwhile a scumbag doesn't get the purse he wanted? This sounds like a win all around.
