This is still currently ongoing so prepare for more to happen as a result of this story, but creating a thread for any happenings which occur from Israeli police crackdown at her funeral. Knowing how much of a powderkeg this has potential to turn into, it can get a lot worse in Israel, quite fast.

Currently watching a lot of liberal people on twitter freak out over events going on with Shereen Abu Aqleh's death, and a shitstorm which is occurring at her funeral.

For example:

Said video:

Quene lots of similar takes on twitter, photos, violence porn, etc.

The Israeli state has come out with their own statement that mourners were throwing rocks and other projectiles at riot police who were assembled in the event of a possible riot, which was what provoked the police to strike at the mourners throwing rocks and yelling slurs. This part of the video isn't being spread as much.

Political sperging besides, as George Floyd and Rittenhouse are still fresh in memory, and we had a media shitstorm from then of various claims, bad takes on video angles, etc- thought that documenting any happenings from this would be a good idea. We already have the NYT rushing in with air quotations, and knowing that media organizations will want to push a narrative popular with their viewers, that isn't really a surprise

For a quick summary of events for the funeral:

-Mourners assembled in East Jerusalem in very large numbers,
-Israeli cops also assembled, for fear of a possible riot (considering what happens all the time in Israel, and over the summer in the US with Floyd, somewhat reasonable),
-Mourners, provacateurs, whatever you want to call them started throwing rocks at Israeli riot police,
-Riot police then moved in to strike and break up the assembly.

Conversely, it is also not actually confirmed yet if she was killed by Israeli gunfire, though news agencies are running with this

Israel has a different response, citing that it's currently inconclusive.

do you have a quick rundown on the actual killing? like what was going on, what kind of event was it, why was she there, what was she doing, who killed her and why, etc
Apparently the general gist of it is, Shireen Abu Akleh, a person who had been a journalist who worked as a reporter for Al-Jazeera for over 2 decades and a household name in the Middle East was shot and killed while covering a Israeli military raid on a refugee camp in the West Bank. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Israel claims the Palestinians shot her while the Palestinian Ministry of Health claims the IDF shot her.

This journalist couldn't even get shot on camera. Pathetic.

Why should I care? I see this trending on Twitter and it's just
I really don't care.
Might turn out to be nothing, but has the potential to spill into riots or something worse tonight. If not, this will die. Theres currently protests across the middle east, peaceful so far, and the UN came out and condemned the killing today

This basically, save the IDF isn't claiming that the Palestinians shot her, theyre stating that they don't actually know. It could have been palestinians firing in her general direction, or it could have been one of their operatives firing in the same direction. Either or, she was caught in crossfire and wound up dead.

Its really just a shitshow with claims, even on wikipedia

I don't think it will turn into anything because she is a woman.
Anyways, considering the Palestinian government won't show anyone what's the bullet found in the journo, it's almost assuredly a Palestinian fucking up since that bullet is clear evidence whodunit.
Also I heavily doubt the attack was deliberate considering it was during a gunfight where people don't go looking for bonus scores.

It all depends on whether the muslim neighbors sympathize enough to do a united jihad against israel, otherwise is just gonna be the IDF stomping over palestinians for the nth time this season

This whole situation is weird:

quoting from washington post:

Her funeral route had been agreed upon by police and Abu Akleh’s family, according to media reports, and was to include the carrying of her body by hearse to a Catholic church in Jerusalem’s Old City, and then a procession to the Christian cemetery where she was to be buried in a family plot. By noon, a crowd of several hundred formed at the entrance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in East Jerusalem, where Abu Akleh’s body had rested overnight. In the minutes before the procession was due to leave the hospital, several dozen Muslim men lined up for Friday prayers, kneeling in the parking lot. Behind them, two mourners held up large floral crosses. Then the crowd gathered, with Palestinian flags waving. “God is greatest,” some chanted in Arabic. “From Jerusalem to Jenin, God bless your soul, Shireen.” But a group of men in the crowd prevented a hearse from backing up to the hospital door, saying they were intent on carrying her body on their shoulders. The standoff eventually prompted Akleh’s brother, sitting on a man’s shoulders, to beseech the crowd to let the hearse through. “For God’s sake, let us put her in the car and finish the day,” he said. “On the shoulder, on the shoulder!” people chanted, and beat the hearse with sticks until it pulled away for a second time. The crowd cheered when the men eventually dragged the coffin out on their shoulders, followed by a stretcher carrying the journalist’s blue bullet-resistant vest. But Israeli police at the hospital gate refused to let the crowd through and, within minutes, a squad in riot gear pushed forward, setting off stun grenades and beating back the mourners with truncheons. People scattered amid a cascade of thrown bottles and rocks. At one point, Abu Akleh’s coffin lurched toward the ground, but the pallbearers managed to keep it aloft. With police standing post in the compound, the hearse sped from the hospital compound under heavy Israeli guard to the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Family has agreement with police that her body will be transported via hearse, bunch of Muslim men (note she was Christian) decide to prevent the hearse from taking the body and attempt to carry the coffin away while shouting nationalist slogans in a clear attempt to incite a riot. Said thugs then throw rocks at police officers. Police confronts them and restores order.

Yeah, the Palestinians not wanting anyone else at the autopsy is a pretty big indicator that they are, at absolute minimum, far less certain of who killed her than they claim.
The Palestinian Authority are just shabbos goyim; they don't care about pushing a pro Palestinian narrative. I honestly doubt their capability of doing a timely autopsy, too.

Violence in the middle east again? Are they also going to report on every turd in a toilet?

I suppose this won't be reported on much by Western outlets actually.
